No More Excuses!

Quote: A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn't will find an excuse. - Stephan Dolley Jr.

It’s been said that some of the smartest people make lousy entrepreneurs. How can that be? The problem is that some people are so smart they can easily predict all of the problems, roadblocks and hurdles they’ll need to overcome to succeed. They can think of all kinds of reasons why an idea won’t work. This foresight can crush possibilities and dreams. When you want something, do you focus on the positive things, or the barriers? To reach your goals, you have to really want them. More importantly, you have to believe that you can do it. Think more about why you CAN make it happen instead of why you can’t.

Myth Buster! If I drink more water, I will have water retention!

Stop Retaining Water... By Drinking More Water!

Many people around the world are constantly dealing with the bloating, or retention of water in their bodies. It causes clothes to not fit correctly and is a great annoyance that affects both comfort and self-esteem. So is there anything natural a person can do to help offset a bout of this unpredictable hormonal nuisance? YES!

First, it helps to understand what factors can cause water retention. Surprisingly, not drinking enough water is a main culprit. Water helps your liver convert fat into usable energy. If you don't drink enough, your kidneys are overwhelmed with concentrated fluids, and they will make your liver do extra work. Your liver works hard to turn your body fat into the energy that you use but if it has to do the kidney's work, then it simply hold onto the extra fat that would have been burned off if you simply had enough water.

And what's worse is that instead of excreting water and waste products, you body retains existing water to reuse. This is what causes water retention and bloating. When you don't get enough water, your body panics and holds on to it selfishly, as though you're in a famine. Dehydration thus can make you look bloated and fat instead of thin and taut. The best way to get rid of this water retention is to drink enough of it to return your body and its processes back to a normal equilibrium.

You'll also feel thirsty more often, and this will start a healthy cycle of thirst leading to hydration. But you have to keep it up because if you stop drinking enough water, all the good things you've gained from drinking water (balanced body fluids, weight loss, decreased hunger and thirst) will reverse back to the way they were. In the human body, water affects every aspect of our health. Water lubricates joints and organs. It maintains muscle tone and keeps skin elastic and soft. Water regulates body temperature, filters out impurities, and keeps the brain working properly while transporting nutrients to and from cells.

While the human body can store energy as glycogen, fat, and tissue, it cannot "store" water - the body uses its own water but expects us to provide a continuous supply of fresh new water regularly to function. Water is critical in moving nutrients into and out of a cell, an action known as the "ion pump". When you take in the improper balance of sodium and potassium or do not drink adequate water, your body will increase a hormone and try to "retain" water by keeping your kidneys from filtering it. Ironically, one of the best ways to stop retaining water is to drink more water!

How Should I drink my Water?

Contrary to popular belief, "chugging" a gallon of water is not going to provide your body with the water it needs. When too much water floods your system at once, your body will pass most of it on to your bladder, and only absorb a slight amount. Weight in the stomach is a signal for digestive processes to begin, and a number of biological chemicals enter your stomach and change the pH balance. This can result in indigestion and stomach pain.

The best way to take water is to steadily sip it throughout the day. You should also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables - most of the produce you eat is filled with water, and the body can process this water very efficiently. So - how much water? We've been told to drink "eight cups a day," which is a good starting point, but does every adult require this same amount of water when people come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and have different metabolisms, exercise habits and lifestyles?

How Much Water Should You Drink?
For every 25kg of body weight, you should be drinking 1 litres of water. Therefore, if you weigh 65kg... you should be drinking 2.5 litres of water per day!

What to expect while Detoxing?

My friend whom took the Aloe and Shake had a scare last week while she started her journey of detoxing! She had red swelling (rashes) all over her body after taking the products for just 2 days while I had pimples outbreak and hubby and some girlfriends had more poo over the 3-4days.

So what exactly is a Detox? And why is it called a Healing Crisis?

Detox occurs whenever the body begins to expel and eliminate toxicity, whether it occurs naturally as a function of a strong immune system or whether the detox is brought on by some type of supplement which stimulates the systems of the body to let go of poison and move back toward a state of balance, or homeostasis.
In a sense, we are detoxing all the time. If we were not, we'd soon die. Particularly given the state of our air and food, not to mention the chronic wear on our system from stress, which was the beginning point of this series on detoxing, and something that will be covered again.
One reason the body gets overly toxic is that there is not enough energy left after we spend so much of our precious reserves in worry, doubt, fear, anger, resentment, guilt, shame, and anxiety for the normal repair and rejuvenation that would naturally happen while we sleep at night.
If you've ever been suddenly and totally thrown into fear, you may well remember that your stomach knotted up instantly. You may even have gotten sick at your stomach for a short time, or very dizzy. Think of a time when you may have almost had a car accident, or even when someone jumped out of a closet or the bushes, just having fun and scared you almost into a panic attack.
That's your body's instantaneous fight or flight response to perceived or imagined threat. Notice that last sentence: perceived or imagined threat. The truth is that your system is designed to protect your life at all costs, even if it means the system is temporarily shutting down all other functions so that the muscles are primed to move and the body is ready to avoid danger. The body doesn't care if the threat is true or not. If you believe it is, the body responds instantly. Digestion stops, repair and rejuvenation stops, muscles tense in preparation for sudden movement, etc.
If we only went into fight or flight when there was true and immediate danger, our body would have no problem (assuming we are reasonably healthy) readjusting to normal functions quickly. However, this is not the case with most of us. In fact, many of us STAY in fight or flight. Imagine what this does to our system over time. It is as if we have hired a guard to alert us to danger and told the soldier be on the ready whenever anything moved anywhere near us. Soon, the guard would be exhausted because something would always be moving near us. This is the way life is. Something is always moving near us. Somehow we have to stop waking the guard every time something moves.
OK, back to detoxing. Detoxing at a physical level can range anywhere from extremely mild (more bowel or kidney movement, slight skin rash, little aches and pains) to very, very intensely uncomfortable. When it reaches the far extreme of intensity, this state of feeling worse than you did before is often referred to as the healing crisis.
Although there are definitely things you can do to minimize a healing crisis during detox, there are times and situations where one is unavoidable. This is why I always encourage people to make their health enough of a priority to schedule the first few days of their detox at a time when they can rest more, perhaps even be away from work entirely.
Detox symptoms can include skin rashes or eruptions, headaches, bad breath (sometimes, very bad breath!), unusual body odors, dizziness, nausea, feelings of fatigue or even slight depression, gas, diarrhea, colds, ear infection, insomnia, boils, itching, etc. You can experience temporary periods of confusion, and lack of appetite. You may be very thirsty at times. Why is this a good thing? Well, assuming the detox doesn't happen faster than the overall system can handle it, the symptoms indicate that the immune system is working properly, that toxins are being eliminated and that the body is working toward balance again. Usually, a healing crisis should last no more than three days.

Suggestions for Minimizing a Detox-Triggered Healing Crisis
There are definitely ways to decrease the level of healing crisis that occurs during detoxification. One of the very best ways I've found in my personal experience is to take very frequent hot showers, scrubbing the skin well, and buffing dry with a towel afterwards. If I am detoxing heavily, I may take three showers a day, for example. Another important factor is drinking enough water to help the kidneys, skin, liver, colon and spleen process waste. In particular, your skin and kidneys need lots of good, pure water to flush the toxins. I definitely would not use tap water during a detox. You want clean water to assist your system in cleansing.

Detoxing From Sugar
We all know the nutritional value of refined white sugar is hard on the body. Detoxing from sugar will often cause skin reactions such as rashes and breakouts. Rather than put something on the skin to stop the breakout, you can aid the clearing reaction with a bentonite clay poultice. This will expedite the healing of the skin irritation combined with pulling the toxins out. Know that when the skin begins to react to a detox cleanse that this response is really a positive sign. Your body is now stronger and better able to release the poisons; The skin's ability to heal is coming alive. After all the skin is the largest organ of the body and is becoming an active participant in the detoxing process.

Don't fear if you see strange skin activity, such as itching, rashes, pimples, etc. Be sure and drink lots of water, and an aloe vera gel can be quite helpful and soothing. You will find these symptoms will only last a short time, maybe two or three days.

Detox and Neuritis - Why the Need for Detox
Symptoms of neuritis can vary with its cause. Some symptoms which may occur are pain, tenderness, tingling, loss of the sensation of touch in the affected nerve area, redness and swelling of the affected area, and in severe cases, convulsions.

The main problem and treatment is a need for a major detox. This is probably the most important problem area to be treated by detox. This is one of the best natural answers we know of. Neuritis is the inflammation or deterioration of a nerve or group of nerves.
Causes of neuritis can include injury to a nerve, such as a direct blow or a nearby bone fracture, infection involving a nerve, diseases such a diabetes, gout, and leukemia,or poisons such a mercury, lead, alcohol, and dietary deficiency of the vitamin B complex, especially thiamin. A thiamin deficiency results in the impairment of nerve tissue so that it cannot utilize carbohydrates for energy.

This is probably the most important problem area to be treated by detox. This is one of the best natural answers we know of. This why the product Herbal Remedies named DETOX, a general organ cleanser and tonic, was created--to specifically include detox of the kidneys, liver, pancreas and gall bladder.
This great product cleanses heavy metals and other poisons, such as mercury, lead, alcohol and a deficiency of the vitamin B complex, especially thiamin, from the blood, nerves and cells. A thiamin deficiency results in the impairment of nerve tissue so that it cannot utilize carbohydrates for energy.
Also, DETOX is very good for providing a complete cleansing of the small intestine. Excellent for taking, following any intense experience of stress.

Understanding of The Healing Crisis
The human body has a natural tendency to maintain good health. In fact, perfect health is the natural state of the human body. If this is true, then why are so many of us functioning below our natural state? In a word, toxicity. Toxic substances enter our bodies every waking moment. Toxins are in the air, in the food we eat, in the water we drink. Parasites abound and are far easier to pick up than most people realize, particularly in the presence of indoor pets who, even occasionally, go outside. Parasites create profound toxicity in the body over time because they excrete waste matter themselves and when they die, they excrete even more waste matter. This is why one might typically go through a period of discomfort during a parasite cleanse. Not only does our body try to rid itself of the parasites but it has the added job of removing the toxic wastes that are released as the parasite dies and is evacuated from the body. As the toxins are released, a slight healing crisis of flu-like symptoms may be the result. As a rule, this type of healing crisis should be over within 8 to 24 hours but can last as long as three days.

Once the body has begun to eliminate parasites and other toxins from the organs, blood stream and eliminatory tracts, one begins to go through whatever healing crisis may result from the initial cleanse. Such reactions may be mild or severe and the feeling of toxicity may be more on some days and less on others, until good health balance is restored and made stable in the system A true detox, if one has never done it, can take as long as six months. When years of excess, poor eating, high stress, or other physical imbalance have resulted in poor health, overnight results are seldom the case. It takes dedication, persistence, and self-monitoring to detox completely, safely and effectively.
In a healing crisis, every body system works together to eliminate waste products and set the stage for regeneration. Toxic, damaged tissues are replaced with new rejuvenated flesh. Symptoms of the healing crisis may at first be quite similar to the disease it is meant to heal. This can be confusing as one might expect to immediately feel better and not to feel more of the same. However, there is a significant difference between a healing crisis and the original problem: elimination. A cleansing, purifying process is underway and stored wastes are in a free-flowing state or release. If you are eliminating, you are cleansing. If you are cleansing, you are healing, in spite of the fact that you may feel worse than before at first.
Sometimes pain and symptoms during the healing crisis are more intense than that of the chronic disease, but this is temporary. Remember that the immune system of a toxic person is suppressed and one thing that happens with a cleanse is that the immune system begins to "wake up" and the first thing it wants to do is get the waste out, quickly. A healing crisis can quite often also bring about a retracing or temporary resurfacing of past conditions and personal issues. People often forget the diseases, issues, or injuries they have had in the past, but are usually reminded during the crisis so that they can heal their unfinished business. This arises in whatever order the body is capable of handling at that time. Physical reactions during a healing crisis may include depression, mental confusion, flu-like aching joints, skin eruptions, nausea, headache, sleepiness, unusual fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, head or chest cold, ear infections, boils, or disturbance in eliminatory functions the body uses to loosen and eliminate toxins. An initial healing crisis usually lasts around three days but if the energy of the patient is low, it may last a week or more.
Your body needs juices, and especially water to help carry off the toxins. This is a time for rest. Be kind to yourself --- mentally, emotionally, and of course physically. One crisis is not always enough for a complete cure. When someone is in a weakened state due to years of chronic toxicity, it may be that levels of cleansing need to occur, with periods of rest and ceasing of detox formulas for a time in between. Learn to trust your body. If you reach a level where you feel no more cleansing should be done at that time, take a break for a week or two, and then start again. It takes time to develop a chronically diseased state, and time is required to restore healthy function throughout the system.
Consider detox to be like peeling an onion. You know how there are several layers of dried, useless skin before you reach the good part. Consider each level of detox to be letting go of useless skin, to get to the good part: HEALTH. I use the onion analogy a lot when speaking of emotional cleansing and detox too, because the same applies. We have layers of old, dried out feelings caked on top of our genuine emotions and healing often requires peeling away those old defense layers and walls, to find ourselves again.

There are alot of articles that you may find on the internet on detoxing and I have obtained mine from this link. Hope you have found reading this useful in your journey to good health!

Benefits of Aloe Vera!

Sadly, this is a powerful plant but often overlooked by many! Alot of people do not know the many wonderful benefits this plant brings.  This plant has been used for many years to help heal the skin and also to help heal the internal parts of the body.  There are many benefits of Aloe Vera and if you drink it twice a day you can experience the following benefits:

1.  Heartburn Relief
Aloe Vera is known for being very soothing.  It is used mainly to sooth the skin, but since the stomach and the intestines are lined with skin you can use the juice of the plant to help sooth your stomach.  When you drink the juice it will give you relief from the heartburn you are suffering from and some have even found that they can cure heartburn all together with Aloe Vera.
2.  Constipation Relief
If you are constipated you can drink Aloe Vera too!  One of the benefits of Aloe Vera is that it is a laxative, which will help to flush your system and get your digestive cycle back to normal.  You can drink it concentrated, 2tbsp, use it one time or for a few days to help you with your constipation depending on how bad it is.
3. Ulcers Relief
If you are prone to ulcers, (I know I do!) you will find relief in Aloe Vera! I have a long history and battle with ulcers, all the chinese powder (西瓜霜 etc), bonjela, Oracort and even salt etc doesn't seem to have an effect on healing ulcers. What peeve me is it comes easily whenever i accidentally bite my lips etc. So after i started on Aloe for 3 weeks, i happened to bite on my lips and I dread the ulcers that is going to appear the next day! However, to my surprise... there is non at all!

4. Skin & Eczema Relief!
Aloe Vera acts as an antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal agent, preventing illness. Aloe Vera is considered a natural skin treatment for various skin disorders but notably for dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. While aloe vera may not succeed in curing psoriasis or eczema, aloe vera is a natural skincarea product that works to alleviate dry skin conditions. The benefits of aloe vera taken internally and/or the use of topical aloe vera lotion provide natural psoriasis treatment and relief of eczema symptoms.
5.  It is All Natural
All natural herbs and remedies are becoming much more popular because they don’t break down the body as much as prescriptions drugs do.  With an all-natural cure or remedy you may actually help to build your body up so that it can fight off the sickness you are currently suffering from.  This is the case with Aloe Vera because it is a plant and not a chemically produced drug.
6.  Vitamins and Minerals
Since we filter our water and drink bottled water we miss out on many minerals that our bodies need.  You can replace many of these with the juice from the Aloe Vera plant.  One of the benefits of Aloe Vera is that it will have calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B12, and vitamin E in it.  These are essential to your health and can help you build up your immune system.
7.  Provides Energy
Since the plant contains vitamin B12 it can be used to help give you daily energy.  If you feel lethargic and lazy you can start drinking the juice to experience one of the many benefits of Aloe Vera.  Energy is an important part of life and a daily dose of Aloe Vera can help you more than a cup of coffee can.
So since there are so many benefits to Aloe, why wait? Try taking Aloe NOW and see the improvement to your health now!

A long awaited Milestone! My Levis Jeans!

Stepped on the weighing scale this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see my weight finally back to my pre-pregnancy weight! It took me just 3 weeks to be on this program to lose that 4kg of stubborn fats which I had been trying so hard since my 2nd baby turned 1 year old! With my elder girl, by the time she turned 1... I am already back to my pre-pregnancy weight but this 2nd pregnancy, took me a whole 1 years and 10 months! Now i really wonder why I did not try Herbalife much earlier and take it seriously in the past!

So the first thing i did upon seeing my weight on the scale was to quickly pull out my old & trusty pair of Levis Jeans! I had a pair of favourite Levis Jeans which I wore before pregnancy but which i have not been able to wear ever since I gave birth to my 2nd girl. And YES! I am able to wear it this morning! FINALLY! Hip Hip Hooray!

I am loving this new found joy, new found energy and everything around me is good when I feel good! All thanks to Herbalife! And I have also started using their facial products... lets see how it goes then! :)

3rd week into Herbalife!

I am into my 3rd week of consuming Herbalife products and what can I say! I was abit upset that I sprained my back last week which meant that I can't go to gym nor perform any exercise. It was such a bad sprain that I can't walk normally and I had to see a Physiotherapist to ease the pain! And her advise to me was to do more stretching but to avoid strenuous exercise for the next week till my back is fully recovered!

As I managed to lose 2kg in the first 2 weeks, I thought it was due to the fact that on top of consuming Herbalife products, I was also exercising 2x per week in the gym. So when I can't go to the gym last week, I was kinda worried that there won't be much result to show this week. But lo and behold! My weight continued to drop! Another kg down! So total 3kgs in 3 weeks! It was awesome! What was more motivating was that my weight loss is noticeable! Relatives and friends commented and that was really a great morale booster!

I get all sorts of comments such as:
"Wow, you lost weight!",
"Geeze, you are looking more sexy!",
"Your face is so defined now! How did you do it?",
"You are looking very good gal!"

And I realised I made many heads turn too! It felt really really good! Even hubby cannot resist complimenting me! (Mind you, my hubby is a pretty reserved man! LOL!)

I realised my method of consuming the products are effective, most importantly safe and it is showing results fast! I will share in detail my method of consuming the products with all my customer! So don't wait any longer! Ask me and join me in a fuss free weight loss journey now! BTW, I am looking to losing another 3kg! Yeah!

Mummies Herb Verdict: I am a chocoholic so literally, anything chocolately goes! The Dutch Chocolate Shake Mix is delicious when mixed with cold water or even blended with ice or reduced sugar soy milk! But remember to mix it well before consumption!

For the initial 2 weeks, I replace 2 meals with the shake during the weekdays for breakfast and lunch and am happy to say that I have no cravings for other food as the shake itself is very satisfying and makes me feel full after taking it. And for weekends, I replaced only 1 meal usually breakfast so that I can enjoy lunch and dinner with families and friends. With this schedule in place, I have lost 3kgs within 3 weeks!

For myself I prefer to mix the shake with cold water with a few ice cubes to make it into a really icy milkshake especially when I am rushing or on the go. Otherwise, I will experiment and add in fruits such as pear, apples, kiwi, dragonfruit, grapes and you will be surprised with what kind of flavor you might be getting! Have fun and have a shake to a healthy you!

Health is Happiness!

Have you ever thought about the connection between happiness and good health? Most of us would probably agree that there is a connection, but many of us who feel unhappy don't want to take the time to build a foundation of good health.

Good health can be the launching pad for great things. Think about when you are feeling under the weather. It is hard to stay on track and consistent with your goals when your body isn't up to the challenge. It is extremely important to make sure your body stays in great shape if you want to enjoy all that life has to offer.

I started to take a very serious look at my health when I fainted out of the blue due to extreme sudden pain at my back and was temporary paralysed neck down. I had my first occurrence of "slipped disc" and what the doctor told me did not came as a surprise but it was definitely an alarm that woke me up! He told me a matter of fact that I was overweight (70kg at 1.57m built!) and therefore my spine cannot withstand my weight. It was a life changing moment for me and from there on, I was always trying to lose weight and lose it healthily!

Who am I?

I am a full time working mum and a proud mummy to 2 pretty princesses. Like all mums I only want the best for my family. Hence, I am a strong believer in breastfeeding. It provides all the wonderful nutrients and health benefits to my children. I believe that with healthy eating habits, they will benefit when I breastfeed them.

My Problems:
I always thought that breastfeeding & eating normally will help me to lose all the weight I gained during pregnancy. I lost 16kg within the first 8 months when I breastfed my first daughter. However, with my second daughter, it was not the same. I had difficulty shedding 17kg I gained during my pregnancy. Even when she turned one, I was still 5kg heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight. I felt sad because I want to look my best. I began to watch my diet and hitting the gym four times a week. I also began to use body contouring products with the hope of looking good again. My efforts were in vain. My tummy and arms remain flabby and my weight stagnant. I began to lose hope.

The Turning Point:
By coincidence, one of my colleagues invited me to a 'healthy lunch'. We reached a studio named WellnessXpert. To my surprise, they were promoting Herbalife products! (Note: Herbalife is not new to me, I had tried Herbalife’s shake many years ago when I was trying to slim down but the shake tasted yucky then!) All my radar went up! I was skeptical… ok, new packaging I thought… it took me a lot of courage to actually step into the studio but as I did not want to disappoint my colleagues so I entered with them. Sitting quietly, I ordered my shake and drinks and told myself… even if its going to be my first and last time, at least I should give it another try. I saw the ingredients that they listed on the board for "Today’s Special" and what was included in the shake, and noted that they have added fruits and oats into the shake. I was given a glass of Aloe Vera drink, followed by the shake and then a glass of refillable green tea. The shake was unexpectedly tasty! This trip to WellnessXpert changed my entire concept of Herbalife!

I bought a set of the shakes and aloe and tea back to try on my own and there was no turning back. I started to lose weight within that first week. Dropped 1kg and in the 2nd week, I dropped another kilogram! I have also reduced the number of gym sessions from 4 session a week to just 2 session a week. Now I am able to spend quality time at work and at home with my girls. The products gave me energy and I wasn’t lethargic! I felt as if I had been refreshed and renewed!

With a new found zest, it is definitely going to be an exciting journey for me with Herbalife as I continue to take the shake. I wish to try the rest of their products and write my thoughts on them. And at the same time, I hope I can help fellow mummies or anyone else in need to not only look good, feel good but to start their own journey to healthy living!
